Smog Checks

What to Do Before a Smog Check

Eco Smog / Smog Check & Auto Registration does smog fast and right!

We want you to know what you need to do so that your vehicle will have a better chance of passing its smog check:

  • Make sure your check engine light is not on. An illuminated check engine light will cause your vehicle to automatically fail the smog test.
  • If your vehicle is not running right, do not schedule a smog test. Chances are it will not pass inspection, so get your car repaired before the smog check.
  • Change your vehicle's engine oil on time.
  • During the smog inspection, the technician may have to run your vehicle on a dynamometer. Correct the tire pressure according to the tire manufacturer. It will help you pass your smog test and improve fuel economy.
  • Drive your car at least 15-minutes before arriving at a smog check station to ensure that your vehicle is at a normal operating temperature.

A well-maintained vehicle will save you time and money in the long run. Make sure to get your smog test completed before the DMV due date so that if it doesn't pass, there is enough time for repairs! Also, FREE re-tests can be obtained at our local certified testing station so don't wait!
